Merge and compress PDFs in one workflow

When several PDFs belong in one document, downloading a merged file and uploading it again for compression wastes time. This free Flow keeps the chosen order, creates one PDF, and then reduces the finished file size without an extra upload.

How this PDF Flow works

  1. Choose the files

Upload up to three PDFs and arrange them in the exact order needed in the final document.

  2. Merge once

LeafDeck combines the complete files into one continuous PDF in your browser.

  3. Compress the result

The finished merged PDF is sent through the secure compression step and downloaded automatically.

Why merge before compression?

Compressing the final merged document usually avoids processing files that may later be removed or replaced, and it can optimize content added during the merge. If the combined document could exceed the current server limit, compress each source first or use a smaller batch.

Common uses

  • Combine reports before emailing them
  • Prepare one compact application package
  • Join scanned sections into a smaller archive copy
  • Reduce several attachments to one downloadable PDF

Frequently asked questions

Can I merge and compress PDF files at the same time?

Yes. This preset runs Merge PDFs first and Compress PDF second, so you upload the source files only once.

Will compression always make the PDF much smaller?

No. Image-heavy PDFs usually shrink more than files that already contain optimized text and images. Always review the finished document.

Are my PDFs saved with the Flow?

No. The preset contains only operation settings. Uploaded documents are not saved in the Flow and server files follow LeafDeck’s deletion policy.
